The “My Lips But Pinker” Lipstick

closed tube

I can’t be the only Canadian makeup lover who stalks drugstores waiting for products I heard about from US bloggers to drop, can I?

From what I gather, the Rimmel Moisture Renew lipsticks were a thing a while back, then they disappeared, and now they’re back, reformulated and better than ever. Apparently they’ve been in the US and UK for a while, and as usual, Canada’s the last to get anything good (except free healthcare).

They’ve been trickling into drugstores for a while, but most stores only had about 5 shades…until recently.

Full Face

I had heard about Picadilly Pink from a YouTuber who said it was a good everyday, netural pink. I can’t remember who she was, but she was certainly right. The shade is a plummy pink that doesn’t look too Nicki Minaj on my skin; in fact, it’s super close to what my lower lip naturally looks like, but slightly pinker.

Lip Swatch

The formula is moisturizing, exactly as it says on the tin. It’s not Revlon Lip Butter moisturizing, so I’d say it sits somewhere between that and a MAC Lustre lipstick. The finish is fairly shiny, and I up that by dabbing it on over a lip balm. On that topic, I should mention that it is extremely pigmented and doesn’t take much to get it opaque. This might be better for some of the darker colours, but for a neutral lipstick, I like a sheerer coverage so that my lip freckles and stuff show through. (I just think it makes me look more human. Could be wrong though.) I achieve this, like I said, by dabbing instead of swiping.

My only complaint – and there always is one – is the smell. It smells like a full-on old-school lip product. I feel like, with all the research that went into reformulation, they could have at least made it smell like vanilla or cherry or mint or something equally inoffensive.

Generic cosmetic scent aside, though, if you like a hydrating lipstick, this is definitely a range worth checking out.
