My YSL Collection

YSL collection uncapped

Usually, when I spend $40+ on a beauty product, it’s a palette of some sort.

But in recent years, I’ve been occasionally spending more than I’d care to admit on luxury lip products that make MAC lipsticks look cheap.

YSL beauty products are about as high end luxury as I’ll go, and I fully acknowledge that the prices are ridiculous. We’re talking around $40 for a lipstick, and $50 for the famous Touche Éclat. Read more…

The Hydrating Glosses

Hydrating Lip Glosses

Up until a few months ago, I was convinced that I hated lipgloss. The stickiness and that dry feeling left behind by some formulas (I’m looking at you, MAC Lip Glass) were my major complaints. If you’re in the same boat, I’ve got news for you: I’ve tracked down the most non-sticky, velvety smooth, moisturizing glosses at a variety of price points. Read on – your lips will thank you.

Attack of the Jumbo Lip Pencils

Jumbo Pencils

One of the biggest trends in modern beauty is the jumbo lip pencil.

It usually sits somewhere between a conventional lip pencil, a lipstick, a stain, and a balm. Some are shinier than others, some are more pigmented, and some stain long after the balmy finish has worn off.

I took a look at my jumbo pencil collection and realized that I have quite a few from a number of different brands. I decided that this presents an extraordinary comparison opportunity. Not only that, but I’ve done a lot of the comparing in my head already because I value some over others for particular reasons.

I’ll quit dawdling and get on with the comparison. (Skip to the end for the TL;DR.) Read more!

When she announced the launch of a lip gloss and nail polish line, I was super excited. From my experience, when consumers of beauty launch a line of beauty products, it tends to be really, really good. This is no different.

Review: Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer in “Stellar (501)”

Packaging Collage

I bought this product because of the name. I’m a sucker for a good pun. (But then when they released these in the US they called them Rimmel Show-Offs? They’re still Apocalips in Canada, though.)

I also bought this because it was touted as a dupe for the YSL Glossy Stains; however, since biting the bullet a few months ago and actually buying a glossy stain, I can safely say that they are completely different products.

New at the Drugstore! Maybelline Colour Elixir in “Captivating Carnation”

Maybelline Colour Elixir in Captivating Carnation

Every so often the drugstore brands release an arsenal of new lip products. They always come out in the US first, which results in me hearing about them online and stalking my local drugstores like a crazy person waiting for them to arrive here in Canada.

I got super excited when I saw these at my local Shoppers Drug Mart. They’re the Maybelline Colour Elixir lip glosses. And they’re pretty great.
