My New(est) Go-To Wintertime Polish

Chanel Rouge Noir

I’ve been considering picking up this polish for a few years now, but I figured hey, it can’t be that unique – I can probably dupe it!

Boy, was I wrong. Read more!

Essie “Truth or Flare” Polish

Essie Truth or Flare

I love Essie polishes – they dominate my collection. I think that for formula and shade selection, there’s no beating them. When it comes to shades, Essie do pinks and nudes remarkably well and until recently, were missing out on colour.

Not so now, especially with seasonal collections. Read more!

Essie Bahama Mama

Essie Bahama Mama

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but sometimes, a product is so horrendously bad that I feel like it is my duty as a blogger to let my readers know about it. I’ve felt this way about a few products in the past. This goes beyond disappointment – I thought this was just plain bad. Read more…

The First Fall Nails

Essie Bordeaux

With cooler weather comes a return to dark nails for me. As much as I try not to let my colour choices be limited by the seasons, I’ve tried wearing deep reds and blues in July and I just wasn’t feeling it.

But once September rolls around, and especially after we get over those 25°C+ days, dark nails just feel right. Read more!

The Not-Gel Gel Top Coats

Not-Gel Gel Top Coats

I must confess, I’ve never had a professional gel manicure. I don’t get manicures all that often, because I feel like I can do an equally effective job at home thanks to the magic of YouTube. As such, I’m especially fond of at-home gel options (like the Sally Hansen one); however, gel that you cure with a UV light can be incredibly difficult to remove, and I’m just not about that life.

Enter the gel-wannabes. Read more!

The Recent Repurchases

Repurchases

With so much out there in the beauty world, for me, finishing a product means an opportunity to try something new – to go out there and find the next best (or just new) thing.

But sometimes, there is nothing better. Read more!

(Really Easy) Leopard Print Nail Art

Thumbnail

This nail art look is really, ridiculously easy, and you can do it with colours that you probably already have. If you don’t nip out and buy a brown (or black, or both) acrylic paint from the Dollar Store. I only use mine for this look, but it works as well as a polish would!

The Strangest Beauty Product

imPRESS Manicure

When I received the imPRESS Manicure VoxBox in the mail, I was reeeally unsure of the concept. Press-on nails are a trend I remember from my childhood and they weren’t great then. But who knows, right? This is 2014, maybe the concept has been improved upon! I was wrong.

Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in ‘Grapefruit’

Barry M GNP Grapefruit

I’m easing into brights on my tips for spring and summer, and I’m doing it by throwing the occasional coral or hot pink into my usual pastel-and-nude rotation. One such shade is ‘Grapefruit’ from Barry M’s Gelly Nail Paints.

Like other shades in the line, this one is opaque, pigmented, and bright. It wears well; it’s been on my nails for five days and I only see one chip and barely-there tip wear.

What I really love about this line of polishes is the thickness and shine; they really look like gel nails without the fuss of foil and acetone to remove them. The brush is also really wide and lovely, and it doesn’t hurt that it costs £3.99. The downside is that they’re extremely difficult to acquire outside of the UK, but for my British readers, get yourselves down to Boots and try this formula if you haven’t already!

DIY Nail Polish Catalogue

DIY Nail Catalogue for FB Insta

I moved recently, and the most jarring part of it was the amount of beauty products I own and the lack of organization among them. So I picked up a new organizational item from Ikea that, once I get the inside drawers how I want them, I will be sharing here.

The one drawer that is how I want it is my nail polish drawer at the bottom. I used to keep my nail polish in a train case, but that was dark (and my collection had outgrown it), which meant that I inevitably forgot about some colours and didn’t use them. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.

I had some free time and a cute notebook I wasn’t doing anything else with, so I decided to create an organized flipbook of all my nail polish colours. Read more!
