Check out mah pudgy fingers~

With spring comes an influx of brights. In my post dedicated to those lil’ attention-grabbers, I mentioned that I don’t like to wear them on my fingers – only my toes. But for some reason – probs cause of an Essiebutton video – I was really feelin’ Bobbi Brown’s Nectar nail polish for spring. It’s a muted coral that isn’t super crazy bright.

Instead of going out and spending $17 on a nail polish I will only wear once, I decided I’d try to dupe it within my collection – shop my stash, if you will. This is what I came up with. [Read more…]

Review: Maybelline ColorShow The Nudes Collection Nail Polish in ‘Warm Me Up’

Maybelline The Nudes Collection Polish in Warm Me Up

We all know I’m crazy about nude nail polish. When I’m not sure what to wear, it’s what I reach for. It’s super versatile, makes nails look clean and tidy, and goes with any outfit you could dream up. It’s an especially nice alternative to pastels for Spring if it ever comes.

I suppose that’s why Maybelline released their The Nudes Collection for Spring. It features new nude shades of their famous Colour Tattoo cream eyeshadows, cream blushes, and – most exciting in my opinion – nail polish. Read more!

Review: Formula X for Sephora Sticky Base Coat

Sephora Formula X Base Coat

Apparently, sticky base coats are where it’s at.

A few brands make them – there’s Orly Bonder (and the Quo/Orly collab version), CND Stickey – they seem to garner quite the cult following.

My Butter London base coat was on its last legs – it was getting hard to spread, and even polish thinner couldn’t save it. I had had quite a nice experience with Formula X’s “Curiosity” – it’s since become my go-to red. I was also interested in trying a sticky base coat, and Sephora’s is readily available to me, unlike Orly or CND. Read more!

Review: Out the Door Top Coat

Out the Door

Today’s post is a bit of a downer. I’ve had this topcoat sitting on my desk to review for a few months now, and I’ve been lacking the motivation to write this post. I figure it’s because positive reviews are so much fun to write (and read).

But I’m always honest, and when I feel strongly about something, I feel like I should share it with you all. Plus, my Do-Not-Buy List series seems to be reasonably popular, so perhaps you’ll get a kick out of this review. Read more!

Review: Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in “Dragonfruit”

Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in Dragonfruit

In the age of Shellac, most nail polish brands have come out with high-shine gel-esque formulas. When Barry M released their Gelly Nail Paint, it got rave reviews and I must say, it’s pretty fantastic.

The formula applies smooth and is opaque in two coats. It lasts about 3 days without chipping, which isn’t a particularly long wear-time, but it is super shiny, and that makes up for it in my mind. (As you can see from the photo above, the formula is extremely glossy.)

The colour “Dragonfruit” is a really bright bubblegum pink, which isn’t the type of shade I’d normally choose. However, it makes a really nice pop of colour on fingers or toes.

If you can get access to Barry M, I’d definitely recommend giving this line a try!

The Nude Nail Edit

Nude Nail Polish Bottles

I love nude nails no matter what the season, but they’re especially great for spring. There’s just something so sleek and clean about them. They’re great for work, job interviews, weddings and proms (as a welcome alternative to the French mani, which gets tired around prom time).

These are a few of my favourite nudes. Read more!

The Bright Nail Edit

Bright Nails

I love bright colours on my toes. I rarely wear them on my fingers, but I’m all about the bright toenails. It’s probably because I think feet are gross and I feel the need to disguise that grossness by any means possible.

Whether you’re into brights on your tips or toes, with spring coming (taking her sweet time, but coming nonetheless…) it’ll soon be time to start hauling out the brights. If you’re like me, though, then the brights never really left, and you’ve been wearing them all throughout the cold months anyhow. Read more!
