My New(est) Go-To Wintertime Polish

Chanel Rouge Noir

I’ve been considering picking up this polish for a few years now, but I figured hey, it can’t be that unique – I can probably dupe it!

Boy, was I wrong. Read more!

Barry M Gelly Nail Paint in ‘Grapefruit’

Barry M GNP Grapefruit

I’m easing into brights on my tips for spring and summer, and I’m doing it by throwing the occasional coral or hot pink into my usual pastel-and-nude rotation. One such shade is ‘Grapefruit’ from Barry M’s Gelly Nail Paints.

Like other shades in the line, this one is opaque, pigmented, and bright. It wears well; it’s been on my nails for five days and I only see one chip and barely-there tip wear.

What I really love about this line of polishes is the thickness and shine; they really look like gel nails without the fuss of foil and acetone to remove them. The brush is also really wide and lovely, and it doesn’t hurt that it costs £3.99. The downside is that they’re extremely difficult to acquire outside of the UK, but for my British readers, get yourselves down to Boots and try this formula if you haven’t already!

DIY Nail Polish Catalogue

DIY Nail Catalogue for FB Insta

I moved recently, and the most jarring part of it was the amount of beauty products I own and the lack of organization among them. So I picked up a new organizational item from Ikea that, once I get the inside drawers how I want them, I will be sharing here.

The one drawer that is how I want it is my nail polish drawer at the bottom. I used to keep my nail polish in a train case, but that was dark (and my collection had outgrown it), which meant that I inevitably forgot about some colours and didn’t use them. Out of sight, out of mind, I guess.

I had some free time and a cute notebook I wasn’t doing anything else with, so I decided to create an organized flipbook of all my nail polish colours. Read more!

Review: Maybelline ColorShow The Nudes Collection Nail Polish in ‘Warm Me Up’

Maybelline The Nudes Collection Polish in Warm Me Up

We all know I’m crazy about nude nail polish. When I’m not sure what to wear, it’s what I reach for. It’s super versatile, makes nails look clean and tidy, and goes with any outfit you could dream up. It’s an especially nice alternative to pastels for Spring if it ever comes.

I suppose that’s why Maybelline released their The Nudes Collection for Spring. It features new nude shades of their famous Colour Tattoo cream eyeshadows, cream blushes, and – most exciting in my opinion – nail polish. Read more!

Review: Out the Door Top Coat

Out the Door

Today’s post is a bit of a downer. I’ve had this topcoat sitting on my desk to review for a few months now, and I’ve been lacking the motivation to write this post. I figure it’s because positive reviews are so much fun to write (and read).

But I’m always honest, and when I feel strongly about something, I feel like I should share it with you all. Plus, my Do-Not-Buy List series seems to be reasonably popular, so perhaps you’ll get a kick out of this review. Read more!

Review: Nails Inc ‘Victoria’ (+ omg Path of Exile)

Nails Inc Victoria

I recently left a job I had for six months where I had to wear only natural-looking nail polish. And don’t get me wrong, I love a good neutral. Beiges, pinks, french manicures — lovely. But sometimes I need to spice things up, you know?

There’s just something about dark nails that looks so polished — forgive the pun — and chic. It’s edgy but classy and because dark nails have been in for a few years, I think they’ve become quite classic.

Deal Alert!: Shoppers Drug Mart BOGO Nail Polishes

Shoppers Drug Mart Coupon

There’s an awesome-o flash sale-type dealy going on at Shoppers Drug Mart on Wednesday November 27 from 5-8pm.

When you bring this coupon, their nail polish is Buy One Get One Free!

Shoppers does this every so often, which I think is pretty fab. They haven’t listed which brands are and aren’t included as yet, although it does say it excludes nail tools, gel polishes and kits, and prestige nail polishes. One can only hope that “prestige polishes” means the likes of Dior and Clinique, because I’d like to stock up on some Essie for Christmas presents and there’s a Nails Inc polish I’ve been eyeing!

You can bet I’ll be there. I plan to hit up two SDM stores on Wednesday because why not okay? Certain places might have more new collections and such.

Hurray for BOGO polish!

Unique Polish Alert! Julep’s “Cynthia”

I have a lot of nail polish. Too much of it. So much that it’s become very difficult to impress me nail-colour-wise. Rarely do I see a new polish that makes me go “Oooh, I need that!”.

Enter Julep’s “Cynthia”.

I am too excited about this polish.

Review: Formula X for Sephora (& comments on last week’s The Walking Dead)

Formula X for Sephora in "Curiosity"

(Note: The Walking Dead spoilers are at the end of this post)

This new polish line has been hyped like crazy in the beauty blogging community. There was hype around it even before it came out, when Sephora put all their Sephora by OPI polishes on clearance and replaced their displays with teasers that something new was coming. And I got excited. I was never all that crazy for the Sephora by OPI polishes – I found they chipped quickly. Not so with the new ones.

Enter Formula X. It comes in an overwhelming array of colours, including some really unique glitters and topcoats. (Srsly. I spent a good ten minutes circling the display like a crazy before I settled on this one.) Each regular polish retails for $13, while glitters, topcoats and duochromes are $15. Some treatments, sprays, and nail strengtheners sell for $17. It’s a whole line of nailcare. Serious business.
